Weekend Catch

The past weekend was my last one of my spring break. My spring break was nothing short from fun. I met many new people, and even caught up with my elementary school friends (it was a 10 year reunion!). On the Friday, my friend and I went to New Westminister to grab a few drinks, but the weather was so beautiful, we just had to take advantage of it before settling at a bar.

Nutritious Sugar Free Little Breakfast | Green Smoothie + Pancakes

On weekdays, I'm usually running out the house to catch my bus before I can even think about breakfast. But I had some time to whip up a decent one this morning. This took me only 10 minutes to make!
I made banana oatmeal almond butter pancakes, and a spinach and fruit smoothie.
It's nothing fancy, but in case you want to make this, here is what I used:

Pancake:
-1 ripe banana
-1 large egg
-2 tbsp of oatmeal
-2 tbsp of almond butter (or as much as you want)
squished and mixed it all in a bowl -> olive oil on low heat pan -> spoon to pour and spread batter

Smoothie:
-3 frozen strawberries
-1/2 cup frozen pineapples
-1/2 of plain greek yogurt
-1 tbsp erythritol
-2 handfuls of spinach
-1/4 cup of water
I like to layer them in the blender, so I put a small handful of the frozen fruits first, then some greek yogurt, spinach, then repeat with frozen fruit, rest of the greek yogurt, spinach, and then pour the water -> blend.

Perfect breakfast portion & has a bit of variety of flavours and textures.

I just finished eating this, and I'm definitely satisfied :)

Mid Week Eve (aka Tuesday)

Happy hour at The Flying Pig in Gastown starts at 4pm, which is perfect since my classes end right then. We had a few glasses of red wine, accompanied by delicious little appetizers.

beet+bresaola salad & beef carpaccio

pulled pork poutine & shortrib croquettes

Top, bottom, shoes, bag: China | Jacket: Topshop

Top: H&M | Jeans: Zara | Shoes: Zara | Jacket: Zara | Bag: Chapters

I haven't seen Cindy in a while. Although we keep in contact through all the message apps ever made, no conversation on a screen is as good as face to face. Especially over a glass or two of wine.
In our case, it was four.

2015 Resolutions

You know that feeling you get after you finally cross off an item on your to-do list? Yeah, I love it too.
After years of scribbling out huge lists of stressful, pressuring, unrealistic resolutions, I've shortened this years down to just 5.

I've planned ahead this year, so I began my resolutions a few weeks ago. Knowing myself, I can't adapt to a change instantly. Like a lot of things in life, resolutions take time getting used to!

1) Limit legging days.
I don't have anything against people who wear leggings, it's just that leggings were my "sweatpants". Back in high school, I would always wear my notorious maroon sweatshirt, and throw on a pair of leggings. No joke, this was my outfit at least 5 days a week. When it was time for university, I swore I would ditch the leggings and at least try to wear some basic skinny jeans. Unfortunately, I took time for granted living on campus, so I would constantly be in a rush, grabbing whatever pieces of clothing hanging on the side of my bed, and run out to class. No surprise, my outfits were, yet again, a sweatshirt and leggings.
A few months ago, I finally put my "sweatpants" away, and I've been trying to look as presentable as I can whenever I leave the house. I don't know if it's just me, but I've realized that by putting more effort into my outfits made me want to put more effort into everything else.
Real pants are magical. They make you want to be a whole new person.

2) Buy quality staple pieces.
I'm sure I'm not the only one giving in to Forever 21's unbeatable, super cheap prices and decent styles (which they've definitely upgraded). But I think it's time to move on from the thin mixed material chiffon white tees, to the 100% silk heavy duty. A $10 t-shirt that will last me merely a month or two, or a $50 t-shirt that will last me a good year or two? Definitely the latter.

3) Eat at home.
I have full control of what and how much I consume when I eat at home. By eating at home more often, or packing food to go, will not only help me with my health but will also help me save money. $10 a lunch x 5 days a week = $200 a month!

4) Be more independent.
When a helping hand is necessary I won't hesitate to reach out, but I want to be capable of handling most situations on my own. In my opinion, being independent means a lot of things. It means to be responsible, respectful, and confident. I like being challenged, but I often panic and find myself relying on others without a thought. I don't want to think any less of myself. I want to conquer as many obstacles that get thrown at me this year, because at the end of the day there is nothing more satisfying than to get things done yourself.

5) Stop worrying so much
I can be a little uptight. If plans don't go accordingly I tend to freak out. Lately, I've just gotten so tired of stressing out over worrying about things I have no control of. I'm slowly realizing that when something unexpected happens (unless I can actually do something about it) I just need to let it go with the flow.

Style Inspiration | Thigh/Knee High Boots

I had my eyes on these leather beauties since early autumn, and just about a month ago I finally decided to bring them home with me. The reason it took me so long to decide was mainly because they seemed so easy to ruin, considering the unpredictable (rainy) weather here in Vancouver.  Also, I wasn't too sure what to wear with these boots. I knew they looked great on their own, but I needed some more convincing.

I find that an outfit with tall boots, paired with any bottom that gives just a peak of your thighs, are incredibly charming. The pictures above are my favourite outfits depicting the perfect combination of the "sexy, yet sophisticated" look.

Holidaze With The Girlfriends

My girlfriends and I had a little christmas gathering at Lauren's last night. Nothing crazy, nor big, but we had the right amount of wine and tons of carbs to keep us busy.

A new holiday tradition :)
Next year: Lidia's
